NEWS:
The IEEE SmartCity-2020 Conference was planned to be held in Fiji, December 14-16, 2020. Given the COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions, as the safety of people is of the highest priority, the conference will be held virtually on December 14-16, 2020. Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library after they are presented at the virtual conference. Information and instructions on how to prepare for a virtual presentation has been sent to every author already. Registration fees for the conference will be adjusted.

Smart cities (also smarter cities) use digital technologies to enhance performance and wellbeing, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. Developing a smart city to better support growing urban population is a global and complex challenge and involves interdisciplinary fields. Key ‘smart’ sectors include transportation, smart building, energy, health care, and water systems.

As a highly successful International Conferences on Smart City, IEEE SmartCity is aiming to be a premier international conference in smart city. The SmartCity-2020 is the 18th edition of a forum to bring together computer scientists, industrial engineers and researchers to discuss and exchange experimental or theoretical results, novel designs, work-in-progress, experience, case studies, and trend-setting ideas in the area of smart city.

IEEE SmartCity-2020 will be hosted in Fiji. Fiji is a tropical island nation located in Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean and comprises an archipelago of more than 332 islands, 110 of which are permanently inhabited. Fiji is located about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand, and immediate neighbors include Vanuatu, Tonga, and Samoa. It is a world-renowned resort that attracts many people to visit each year.

Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers to SmartCity-2020. All accepted papers are expected to be included in IEEE Xplore and will be indexed by Engineering Index (EI). The authors of selected best papers will be invited post conference to extend their contributions for special issues of prestigious journals to be planned in conjunction with the conference, including Information Fusion (IF: 10.716), IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (IF: 7.377), Future Generation Computer Systems (IF: 5.768), Journal of Cloud Computing (IF: 2.14), Software: Practice and Experience (IF: 1.931), MDPI Electronics (IF: 1.764) and IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatics Sinica.
